Testing advice
Always test a new mouthpiece with a new reed. The reed of the old mouthpiece was chosen together with the old one and there is a great chance that the old reed does not combine very well with the new mouthpiece.
If the reed is a bit too heavy or you would like a clearer timbre, position the reed a bit lower on the mouthpiece. If, on the other hand, the reed is too light or you would like the timbre a shade darker, then the reed should be positioned a bit higher on the mouthpiece. Shoving the reed ever so little either to the left or to the right, will produce a noticeable difference.
